Music Instrument
create my own home made music instrument?
my music teacher gave me this very challenging homework,
here are the rules:
it can be made of any recycled or household items such as plastic, metal, string, rubber, wood or any combination of materials
it must be tuned
it has to be part of the instrument of the orchestra.
it should be acoustic(not require electricty)
you should be able to perform hot cross buns with it
any suggestion? what shall i do? any sources?

My suggestion is a simple one-string guitar. Unfortunately, due to the requirements you can’t follow the normal instructions on the shoe-box guitar websites. Here’s what I think will work:
Get a shoe box. Draw a line across the middle of the lid to divide it in half. Then cut a reasonably sized hole in the middle of the RIGHT half of the lid. You will use the left half as your fingerboard.
Now, take two pens and glue one to each end of the lid. Then find a good size rubber band and stretch it over the shoebox and pens so that it goes over the hole. You’re done; try pushing down the string at different points on the left half and plucking it over the hole.
Now you need to “tune” it. I believe Hot Cross Buns has a range of an octave; this is why you have to have at least half of the box sectioned off for the fingerboard (The reason has to do with physics). Pluck around on the string and find where the notes to the song are. You can play it in any key; I don’t think the teacher will care. Every time you find one of the notes, draw a line on the box where you held down the string. Then practice until you can play it well.
